Firefox Not Working Properly

I've been using Firefox for over a year now and really enjoy it. Two of my favourite features about is that it let's me see, copy and paste the address bar of a website, which I was previously only able to do with WebbIE, and it let's me view my history. But today, it's been acting strangely. Whenever I try to view my history, I go to "show all history" and then choose "today". Usually I would just hit tab or whatever and my sites would come up. But lately, I've had to play around with tab and shift tab until I found the list of links. Today, however, it wouldn't even do that! It just showed me a selection with things like tabs as an option, another tree view with the selection of days and then some kind of search tool bar with no list of links. I just went there now to see what these things were so that I could explain them and it worked correctly without showing me the thing with the tab and whatever other options, just the usual day selection, list of links and search bar. But when I went there only 20 minutes ago, this wasn't available! Has anyone else experienced this? If this is an upate, how do I downgrade so that this doesn't continue happening and how do I make sure that it doesn't update to this ridiculous version? If it's not an update than what is this and how do I stop it from happening?

Remember you posted on Fire Fox before. Search for that and redo your settings. Upgrading isn't the issue. Look in your programs and make sure you haven't installed any toolbars accidently. I mean add and remove programs if we are talking XP and up. These are piggybacked on other programs a lot and get in if you don't watch your installs carefully. Me, I don't like any of them, so don't install them. Firefox won't upgrade unless you agree. It always ask, but you can make sure in the options.

Thanks. I'll take your suggestions. It really is a nice browser and I hope that it stays that way.

Have you added extensions lately? These may cause odd behavior. I use t-bird and ff, with a few addons, and they work fine.
